Quarantine Days is my second commercial collection, mainly inspired by West African dress, men’s shirts and the iconic lead singer of seventies punk band X-Ray Spex, Poly Styrene.  While piecing things together, I loved listening to their music, especially their 1978 Germfree Adolescents debut. Gradually it turned into the soundtrack to the collection. But little did I know back then how relevant and topical some of the songs would become in times of Covid-19 and Black Lives Matter. There can be no inclusion without representation. Hence the enduring relevance  of a strong black woman. As with my previous collection Uwi Van Hauermeiren did all the modelling. They now identify as non-binary and remain as always a true inspiration. Safety and creativity went hand in hand during lockdown days: Uwi Van Hauermeiren acted both as model and photographer, shooting all pictures in their own living room.
